Jacobsburg Historical Society provides musical passport destination

The Jacobsburg Historical Society hosted a free open house at the Boulton Historic Site, 402 Henry Road in Nazareth, July 15.

The Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum, John Joseph Henry House, blacksmith shop and other buildings opened their doors for tours and living history demonstrations.

As a bonus, visitors were serenaded with folk songs by Dave Fry and bluegrass tunes by The Nightbirds Callin’ Band throughout the day.

Beginning with William Henry I (1729-1786), four generations of the Henry family were renowned gunsmiths. The Boulton Gunworks, built by the Henry family along Bushkill Creek produced firearms until the early 1900s. The Boulton Historic Site, located in Jacobsburg State Park, preserves their legacy.

Participating historic and cultural sites in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding counties are opening their doors to the public with free tours, activities, and programs for visitors of all ages through July 30. Lehigh Valley Passport to History: lvhistory.org.
