More than $1.34 million Awarded for school safety, mental health

State Rep. Gary Day (R-187th) on Friday announced four school districts in his legislative district will be awarded more than $1.34 million in School Safety and Mental Health Grants for physical security enhancements, behavioral health supports or both.

“Students should be able to walk into school each morning knowing the adults around them have the tools needed to keep them safe and help them through difficult times,” Day said. “These grants will allow local school leaders to put resources where they will do the most good, whether that means improving security, expanding mental health support or addressing both priorities.”

The grants are:

• East Penn School District - $449,924.

• Northern Lehigh School District - $173,074.

• Northwestern Lehigh School District - $185,547.

• Parkland School District - $533,650.

The noncompetitive grant program is administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. Each school district receives a base allocation of $100,000, plus additional funding calculated using its 2024-25 adjusted average daily membership.
