Allentown West Rotary Club unveils bike repair stations

The Allentown West Rotary Club unveiled its bike repair stations with a ribbon-cutting ceremony July 14 in Upper Macungie Township’s Grange Park.

Representing the Allentown West Rotary were Gail Micca, past president, Diana Dunn, Allentown West Rotary member, and Herb Klotz, with the Rotary Foundation.

Others included Mike Kukitz, parks and recreation manager, Upper Macungie Township, C. Balliett, South Mountain Bicycles, John Scott, project manager and his son, Whitman, and daughter, Addysen.

Several of the stations can be found along the better than 50 miles of trails in Western Lehigh County.

Funding for the project came from the Rotary Foundation and Allentown West Rotary club funds.

C. Balliett, bicycle repair technician, South Mountain Cycle, Emmaus, demonstrated how the bike repair station at Grange Park, Upper Macungie, can be used to repair flat tires, realign brakes and derailleurs and perform other minor repairs to bikes along the bicycle trails in Western Lehigh County.
