Cedar Crest College

Jaber inducted into honor society

On April 14, Khoula Jaber, of Whitehall, was inducted into the Rho Xi Kappa chapter of Gamma Sigma Epsilon, the national chemistry honor society.

Since 1867, Cedar Crest College has been opening the doors to opportunities for women. Today, the college continues to empower its increasingly diverse student body - both in the undergraduate women’s college and in the coed school of adult and graduate education. Located in Allentown, Cedar Crest has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 Best College Rankings as No. 7 in Social Mobility and No. 28 in Best Value Schools among colleges and universities in the region.

Arcadia University

Bodish inducted into honor society

Ryn Bodish, of Whitehall, was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Bodish was initiated at Arcadia University.

Bodish is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 under the leadership of undergraduate student Marcus L. Urann, who had a desire to create a different kind of honor society: one that recognized excellence in all academic disciplines. Today, the society has chapters on more than 325 campuses in the United States, its territories and the Philippines.

Kutztown University

Students graduate

Kutztown University has conferred degrees for more than 430 students for the 2022 fall semester and 2023 winter session. Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish the requirements for graduation throughout the entire year.

The cumulative GPA necessary for honors distinction is with honor, cum laude, 3.4; with high honor, magna cum laude, 3.6; and with highest honor, summa cum laude, 3.8.

Kean University

Dietz named to dean’s list

Kean University congratulates Morgan Dietz, of Whitehall, for earning a place on the fall 2022 dean’s list. Dietz, a senior psychology student, is among more than 3,100 students to achieve this honor. Selection to the dean’s list is based on successful completion of at least 12 credits in the semester with a GPA of 3.45 or higher.

Founded in 1855, Kean University is one of the largest metropolitan institutions of higher education in the region, with a richly diverse student, faculty and staff population. Kean continues to play a key role in the training of teachers and is a hub of educational, technological and cultural enrichment serving more than 16,000 students. Fuica inducted into honor society

On March 29, Mariella Fuica, of Northampton, was inducted into the Omega Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education made up of teachers supporting teachers around the world. This society provides undergraduates and graduates with scholarship and grant opportunities along with many other resources.

Melissa Chatman, of Northampton, was initiated into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, at Fordham University.
