Hornet girls top Liberty, stay unbeaten

The Emmaus girls track and field team continued its march toward the postseason with another fine performance last Tuesday when they dumped Liberty at BASD Stadium, 107-43.

With the win the Green Hornets remained undefeated and continued what has been a superlative regular season. Emmaus head coach Kami Reinhard said one reason why - apart from the athletes themselves - is the assistant coaching.

“Our coaching staff is incredibly devoted to our student-athletes and sets the foundation for the success of our teams,” Reinhard said. They work tirelessly to not only train our athletes, but get to know each of them beyond the sport in such a short time.”

The girls on the team are also ready to compete and ready to win.

“Our student-athletes are extremely motivated this season and the energy is super high to keep focused and working toward team goals,” the coach said.

It didn’t take long for Emmaus to establish its dominance in the Liberty meet. Abigail Burnett was fast in winning the 100-meter dash, while teammate Emma Paradise was mercury quick in winning the 200 and 400. Hailey Reinhard continued her winning ways, this time in the 800, while Madelyn McCartney claimed the 1,600 and 3,200 runs in two outstanding performances. The Hornets also swept all three relay races.

Freshman Claudia Wells continued her stellar rookie season when she won the high jump. Sarah Greene won the pole vault, while Catherine Sirignano won the discus throw and Paige Seay took the javelin.

“We are incredibly proud of how the girls have come together to develop as a team in such a short time,” Kami Reinhard said. “They are a pretty young team, and many of our seniors have really stepped up to lead this fine group of ladies with constant improvement seen in all event groups.”
