Celebrate National Library Week through April 29

Friends of the Emmaus Library are sponsoring a bus trip to the J.P. Morgan Library and Museum in New York City May 11. For additional information, contact Ricki at 570-259-0200.

The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will meet 7 p.m. May 4 in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Lecture Room.

The Emmaus Public Library also hosts many entertaining events every month, including Books and Barks! 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. on every fourth Thursday of the month. The Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs visit the library and listen to children reading.

Come celebrate National Library Week through April 29 at the Emmaus Public Library. An all-day scavenger hunt will be held April 28, virtually and in person. You may bring your own electronic device or use one from the front desk to locate clues and answers around and inside the library.

Attention all adult bookworms! The library will hold an evening book club sign-up 6:45-7:45 p.m. May 9. The featured book is “A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Brysony. Email eplcollection@cliu or call 610-965-9284 if interested and copies may be borrowed either in the library or on the app.

The Emmaus Historical Society and Museum, 218 Main St., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The historical society’s next monthly membership meeting and program is scheduled 7 p.m. May 17 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St. This special program, ”A Virtual Historic Main Street Tour” will be presented by Alan Hawman. Elections will take place before the program. Programs are free and members and nonmembers are welcome to attend.

This is your last chance to sign up for the bus trip for June 14 at The Waterfront at Silver Birches for “Blues, Brew & BBQ.” The deadline for reserving tickets is April 28. Call Nancy at 610-967-5715 to sign up or for more information.

The society’s museum committee appreciates all donations of memorabilia that came from, was used or enjoyed by those in Emaus/Emmaus. Call the office at 610-966-6591 to inquire whether your donation meets the society’s guidelines.

The Lower Lehigh AARP will meet noon May 4 in the lower level of the Macungie Memorial Park Hall, 50 Poplar St. The June 1 picnic tickets are now available. For more information, contact Dot at 610-967-3284.

The next Emmaus Borough Council meetings will be 6 p.m. May 1 and May 15. If you would like to attend virtually, visit the Borough of Emmaus website calendar for the meeting ID and pass code.

The Emmaus Community Pool will hold preseason dates to purchase a 2023 pool pass. To buy a pass, go to the temporary Borough of Emmaus offices, 420 S. 10th St., Emmaus.

The presale dates are 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 9, 10 a.m. to noon May 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 17 and noon to 2 p.m. May 21. Season pool passes are only available for purchase at the borough office during these posted times.

The Emmaus Farmers Market will begin its regular season in May, running 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday until November. The market showcases local baked goods, beverages, condiments, meat, poultry, dairy, prepared food, produce, herbs, spices and flowers. The farmers market also usually includes live music, local programs and charities.
