NORTH WHITEHALL: Lions Club Schnecktucky Derby is out of the gate on April 22

The Upper Lehigh Lions Club will stage a Schnecktucky Derby fundraiser with a great night of fun and entertainment on April 22.

Doors open 5:30 p.m. Dinner buffet catered by Lorah’s will be set up from 6-8 p.m. Race post time is at 7 p.m.

The event features paramutual betting, raffles and prize giveaways.

Raymond the Amish comic will be the guest master of ceremonies.

Reservations are suggested but walk-ins are welcome.

The Derby will be held in the Schnecksville Fire Company pavilion.

All proceeds will benefit community projects.

Volunteers at the Schnecksville Fire Company will host an all-you-can-eat buffet style breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 30.

Meal features homemade creamed chipped beef, eggs cooked as requested, ham, sausage, home fries, pancakes, toast and beverages.

This will be the last breakfast for this season. The next one is planned for September.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will present a birthday bash 11:30 a.m. on April 16.

Twelve tables will be decorated with themes for each month of the year to celebrate everyone’s birthday.

All are welcome to enjoy this time of fun, creativity and fellowship.

St. John’s United Church of Christ is collecting clothing and household items from April 16 to May 21.

The spring drive is accepting clothing, shoes, accessories, bed and kitchen linens, soft toys, such as stuffed animals and Beanie Babies, and hard toys including cars, trucks, airplanes, dolls and action figures.

All contributions should be placed in a well-tied plastic bag and taken to the church.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will celebrate Earth Day on April 23.

Teachers will read “The Lorax,” by Dr. Seuss, to children.

Then, they will relate it to Bible verses and discuss actions people can take in their everyday lives to help the Earth.

The program will take place during children’s church at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
