John Ferri Incarnation of OurLord church member

John Ferri, 96, of Bethlehem, died February 9, 2023. Born in Easton, he was a son of Antonio and Antonietta Ferri. He was the husband of the late Margaret Ferri for 67 years.

He was a radio operator and gunner aboard LST 175, U.S. Navy and sailed on the Queen Mary to England. He met Princess Elizabeth in London and was invited to lunch with her. He was in the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, and then went to the Pacific theatre.

He was a member and lector at Incarnation of Our Lord Catholic Church, the former St. Cyril and Methodius Church, Bethlehem.

He was a volunteer for the Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union, Miss Pennsylvania pageant, The Sons of Italy and Unico. He worked the Liberty H.S. Booster Club concession stand during football games.

He is survived by two sons, John and wife Christie of New Market, Maryland, and David and wife Vanessa of New York, New York; a daughter, Patricia (Ferri) Kienzle and husband Dr. Rand of Malvern; six grandchildren, Angelina (David Newman), Nicole (Dominic San Severino), Victoriana, Jenna, Jace and Tate; five great-grandchildren, Carmella, Luca, Salvatore, Giovanni and Mya; and two brothers, James, and Carmen.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Samuel.

Arrangements were made by Connell Funeral Home Inc., Bethlehem.
