First winners named in LVP, IronPigs contest

Crystal Smith of Palmerton was the first of four winners of the Lehigh Valley Press and Times News IronPigs Token Collect Game. Smith collected on their prize Friday night when the IronPigs hosted the Buffalo Bisons, the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays at Coca-Cola Park.

The prize package included four game tickets, a parking pass, an on-field photo opportunity with IronPigs mascots FeFe and Ferrous and the opportunity for one member of the family to throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the game. A package of four giveaway items featuring a replica jersey and rally towel was also included in the package that Smith received.

Unfortunately, Lehigh Valley lost 3-2 in an exciting extra inning game against one of the top teams in the International League’s East Division. Former and future Phillies such as Matt Vierling, Darick Hall and Yairo Munoz played in the game, while Buffalo rolled out top prospect Gabriel Moreno and major leaguer Cavan Biggio, who is with Buffalo on an injury rehab assignment.

The contest was conducted over three weeks as readers collected tokens – one running in each newspaper per week – and placed them on a special game board provided in the Times News and all Lehigh Valley Press newspapers. The tokens included photos of Ferrous, FeFe and the entrance to Coca-Cola Park.

If you missed out on this opportunity, the contest will be repeated throughout the season. Watch for the special game board and tokens to appear in upcoming editions of the Times News and all Lehigh Valley Press newspapers.

Jeff, Brennen, Shiann and Crystal Smith were the first of four winners named in the Lehigh Valley Press and Times News contest with the IronPigs.
