NASD Board of Education approves tenure for 14 teachers

Fourteen Northampton Area School District teachers have been granted tenure.

The NASD Board of Education voted 8-0 at its most recent meeting, Aug. 17, to approve the professional status and tenure for the following teachers who completed three years of teaching and received six satisfactory evaluations — Northampton Area High School: Ian Luberti and Kathlyn Macalintal; Northampton Area Middle School: Janine Bonham, Logan Bortz, Jennifer Calhoun (Kidd), Jillian Giandomenico, Charles Hutterer, Meredith Roe, Marina Scrap and Harry Schwartz; East Allen Elementary School: Emma Garneau; George Wolf Elementary School: Lynette Meister and Adriana Viglianese; and Lehigh Elementary School: Trisha Rabenold.

School directors also voted 8-0 at the Aug. 17 meeting to approve the following hirings: Renetta Feist, LTS family and consumer science teacher at NAHS, Aug. 17-end of 2026-27 school year, at $66,055, prorated; Gillian Armstrong, LTS biology teacher at NAHS, effective second semester of 2026-27 school year, at $66,055, prorated; Morgan Burch, 1:1 instructional assistant at George Wolf Elementary, effective Aug. 17, at $22.38 per hour, with benefits; Kacie Suveg, LTS instructional assistant at Lehigh Elementary, effective Aug. 17-April 6, 2027, at $22.38 per hour, with benefits; Grace Dawe, TPE English teacher at NAMS, effective Aug. 17, at $66,055; Abrielle Snyder, LTS third-grade teacher at George Wolf Elementary, effective 2026-27 school year, at $66,055, with benefits; Courtney Muick, LTS social studies at NAHS, effective first half of 2026-27 school year, with potential to extend through remainder of school year if necessary, at $66,055, prorated; Elanna Erdman, LTS English teacher at NAMS, effective 2026-27 school year, at $66,055, with benefits; and Gina Lentz, instructional assistant at East Allen Elementary, effective Aug. 17, at $22.38 per hour, with benefits.

School directors also voted 8-0 at the Aug. 17 meeting to approve resignations for Melissa Jamicky, teacher at NAMS, for retirement, effective Oct. 27; Tanya Hock, Spanish teacher at NAMS for retirement, effective last day of the 2026-27 school year; Jeffrey Fragnito, technology technician in the NASD technology office, for retirement, effective Dec. 31; Kelly Kirkpatrick, school psychologist at George Wolf Elementary, effective Sept. 19; Philip Wasko, semi-skilled maintenance worker in the maintenance building, effective Aug. 6; Autumn Frey, health room assistant at NAHS, effective Aug. 24; and Nathan Kelly, semi-skilled maintenance employee, effective Aug. 13.

School directors also approved, at the Aug. 17 meeting, the revised listing for the 2026-27 fall season head coaches and assistant coaches, with their designated payments, as of July 1-June 30, 2027, and the revised mentor and inductee list for the 2026-27 school year, including stipend payments for the 2026-27 school year.

• 7 p.m. Sept. 14: board of education meeting in the board room at NASD Education Center, 7250 New Seemsville Road

• 7 p.m. Sept. 21: facilities committee meeting in the NASD Education Center board room

• 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 19: Houser Auctioneers’ auction in the NASD maintenance facility, 100 Held Drive, Northampton

• 7 p.m. Sept. 21: NASD facilities committee meeting in the NASD Education Center board room
