Dr. Gordon J. Goldberg of Kutztown University

Dr. Gordon J. Goldberg, BA, MA, PhD., 93, a Bethlehem native, died on May 3, 2022. He was a son of the late Harry and Esther Goldberg. He was the husband of Rose Lee for 58 years.

He attended Liberty HS class of 1951 and Lehigh University class of 1955. He earned a master’s degree in History from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD. from Lehigh University. He worked on a doctorate.

He taught at Allen HS for five years and at Kutztown University for 35 years. At Kutztown, he was chair of his department and of faculty senate. Instrumental in raising administration standards, he was founder and first director of the University-wide Honors Program. He and his wife founded the Goldberg honor scholarship.

He taught classes at the Jewish Community Center and at Brith Sholom. He served on the boards of Congregation Brith Sholom the Program for Women and Families, Jewish Community Relations Council. He was a golfer who shot a hole in one on two different occasions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, David of Huston, Texas, and Debra of Hellertown.
