LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

40 years of Community Days

Coplay Borough will hold its 40th annual Community Days Aug. 27-29 at Saylor Park, Second and Keefer streets. All Community Days events will be held rain or shine.

The 2020 festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so organizers are even more eager to get this year’s event underway.

“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back,” said Steve Burker, a Coplay Borough councilman and an organizer of Community Days. “We missed every one of you,” he said, directing his comments to past attendees.

“We are dedicating the 2021 Coplay Community Days to each and every one of you,” he said. “This one’s for you.”

Live entertainment will be present each day at the Miller Lite Stage under the Holencik and Giant Pavilion.

Friday night will feature Common Bond, a classic rock dance band, 6-10 p.m.

On Saturday, guests can see country band Steel Creek perform 1-4 p.m. The Sofa Kings, the ultimate dance and show band, will follow 6-9 p.m.

Polka musician Josef Kroboth, Sue Rabenold and Michael Sherer and oldies band The Large Flowerheads will perform at various times on Sunday.

Other events at the Community Days festival include a Splash and Dance, Aqua Zumba and face painting. Splash and Dance will take place 1:30-4 p.m. Sunday at Parkway Pool, with deejay Freddie Fre- derick Jr. Tara Miller will host the free Aqua Zumba event 4-5 p.m., following the conclusion of Splash and Dance. Festival guests will also find Tootsie the Clown doing face painting 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Coplay’s Community Days will also feature common festival foods, including potato pancakes, halupkies, pork barbecue and drinks. Those 21 and older can find 16-ounce drafts, wine, seltzers and spritzer specials under the Samuel Owens Tent.

A large portion of the events at Community Days are free, including parking and swimming noon-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, as well as the live entertainment. However, any and all other proceeds generated from this volunteer-run event will benefit local civic organizations.
