Emmaus police accept drugs in biannual drug take back

Emmaus police Detective Sgt. Jason Apgar accepts a bag of no-longer-needed prescription drugs from Beverly Binder, of Allentown, at the Emmaus Police Department headquarters, 400 Jubilee St., April 24. The local take back program by area law enforcement officers is part of the twice-a-year nationwide program, now in its 20th year, giving area residents the opportunity to dispose of outdated or no-longer-needed drugs in a safe manner. The drugs will be incinerated by facilities approved by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. Apgar said his location “had a pretty good day,” reflecting last year's collections were limited by pandemic restrictions.
