Marvin R. Moyer

Marvin R. Moyer, 86, of Coopersburg, died March 26, 2021. He was the husband of Janet E. (Miller) Moyer for 64 years. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Warren D. F. and Hilda (Arnold) Moyer.

He was a graduate of Temple University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.

He was the former owner of Moyer’s Diner, Allentown, nutritional director at Muhlenberg College, taught culinary and restaurant practice for 24 years at Upper Bucks Technical School and was a professor of culinary arts at Johnson and Wales University, retiring in 1997.

He owned Discovery Preschool in Emmaus for many years.

He was a member of the Diversified Investors Group and a former member of New Temple Lodge #720 F&AM. He was awarded the lifetime achievement award from Emmaus Mayor Lee Ann Gilbert for outstanding performance in education.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Lynda L., of Bethlehem and Cynthia and her husband, Stephen Gellis, of Macungie; a sister, Anna Mae Fear, of Youngstown, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael A. Giannelli, Stephen Gellis II, Jason Gellis and Amanda Gellis; great-grandchildren, Bella, Aubrey, Mason and Holden. He was predeceased by brothers, Warren, Albert and Harvey; a sister, Josephine “Dolly” McElroy.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. April 1 at the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Visitation 1 to 2 p.m. April 1 in the funeral home.
