NORTH WHITEHALL St. John’s UCC focuses on ‘Three Great Loves’: neighbors, children, creation

Special to The Press

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, took a look at the “Three Great Loves” initiative put forth by the Rev. Dr. John Dorhauer, general minister and president of the denomination.

Dorhauer reports that on his visits to churches around the country, he notices congregations living out their purpose through a commitment to love, welcome and justice.

“Spoken in different ways, we share a common mission,” Dorhauer said. “United by the Holy Spirit and inspired by God’s grace, we love all, welcome all, and seek justice for all.

“We make our commitment real by embracing Three Great Loves: love of neighbor, love of children, and love of creation.”

St. John’s examined ways the congregation could live out the mission of the Three Great Loves, both locally and beyond.

Dorhauer and St. John’s joined in embracing the message of the Three Great Loves: “The world needs our great love. Together our love for the world can transform it.”
