UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP Virtual drawing class offered on Oct. 22

Upper Macungie Township, in partnership with Mary Rose Feldman, a certified Zentangle teacher, will host a virtual Zentangle class 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 22.

Zentangle is an easy-to-learn pattern drawing technique that promotes relaxation and mindful moments.

The method focuses on simple elemental strokes that anyone can draw, regardless of creative ability.

The technique encourages individuality, confidence and stress relief allowing the mind and body to release stress while creating beautiful images.

Use supplies from home or purchase a Zentangle basic kit.

There is a per person fee to participate.

Parkland Community Library, South Whitehall Township, will host a Dive into Databases video series for adults 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13 on Facebook.

Tips and simple instructions will be provided to unlock database features.

Join Dr. Melissa Hakim for a discussion titled, “Healthy Brain, Healthy You,” 3 p.m. Oct. 13 on Zoom.

She will discuss research in areas of diet, nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and use hands-on tools to help incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.

The Hoopla Virtual Book Club for adults will meet to discuss the novel, “Another Brooklyn,” by Jacqueline Woodson 7-8 p.m. Oct. 20 on Zoom.

Parents are invited to join Good Shepherd Pediatrics therapists for a discussion titled “How to Talk to Your Child’s Pediatrician” 7-8 p.m. Oct. 21 on Zoom.

They will share suggestions about the best ways to communicate those concerns to your pediatrician.

For those struggling with controlling their sodium intake are invited to join GIANT Nutritionist Kilene Knitter, MS, RD, LDN, to learn why too much sodium can be dangerous 7-8 p.m. Oct. 22 on Zoom.

She will also touch on simple sodium swaps for recipes and products, as well as some ideas for creating meals and snacks without the extra salt.

Registration is needed to attend all programs.
