LYNN TOWNSHIP New Tripoli Fire Company hosting chicken barbecue

Somethings change; some remain the same.

With the start of school, there are buses traveling the roadways and students standing at bus stops or walking along roadsides.

We need to support each other through these uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic living and learning, and help keep the kids safe.

New Tripoli Fire Company will host a drive-through chicken barbecue 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 13.

Meal includes half a Kauffman’s chicken, baked potato and coleslaw.

Living Stone Fellowship, 6925 Flint Hill Road, New Tripoli, hosts a Drive-in for Praise, Prayer and Promise at 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays.

Following praise songs and corporate prayer, Associate Pastor Jaime Gonzalez leads the group in the study of “Experiencing God” by Henry and Richard Blackaby.

All are welcomed to join.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Harvest Home and Holy Communion will be celebrated 10 a.m. Sept. 6. Bring along a canned good for the food pantry.

The service will be live streamed via Facebook at 10:30 a.m.

The church will bring the canned goods and packaged foods to the Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry to help meet the food needs of those less fortunate in the Northwestern School District.

Living Stone will present author Rick Stuby to discuss his new book, “Declaration of the American Mind,” at 10 a.m. Sept. 13.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Research for his book led Stuby to develop “unique insights into American culture based on the Declaration of Independence.”

Stuby is vice president of marketing at Linx Technologies, a wireless technology company with locations in Wayne, and Merlin, Ore.

He earned a Master of Business Administration degree in corporate entrepreneurship from Lehigh University and a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech.

Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, has free clothing available for the entire family.

The clothing closet will be open 6-8 p.m. Sept. 10, and 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 12.

Masks and social distancing are required.

Friedens Lutheran Church, 9727 Red Road, Stony Run, is having its annual apple dumpling sale Sept. 19 with drive-through pickup 10 a.m.to 2 p.m.

Apple dumplings, apple tarts and apple crisp will be available. They must be ordered in advance.

Orders will be loaded into vehicle trunks. Wear a mask and remain in your vehicle. Have cash or checks payable to Friedens Lutheran Church ready.
