Northampton Area Public Library: Basket social set for Oct. 5

Northampton Area Public Library’s annual autumn basket social is Oct. 5. Doors open 6 p.m., tickets stop being sold 7:45 p.m., and numbers are pulled starting 8 p.m.

You do not need to be present to win.

In addition, this year there will be big-ticket items, a 50/50 raffle, a bake sale and food for purchase.

Teen Read Week will be Oct. 7-13. Get caught reading at the library, and receive a prize!

Take part in our bookmark contest following the theme “It’s Written in the Stars ... Read.”

The library will host a literary pumpkin contest. Create your favorite literary character from a pumpkin.

Pumpkins will be accepted Oct. 22, and winners are announced Oct. 31. Pumpkins will be voted on by library staff.

Join our kid, teen or adult divisions. A winner will be chosen from each.

Registration is required.

Registration is now open for fall children’s programs, which are for ages 10 months to fifth grade.

Programs begin Oct. 30.

There will be a sugar skull decorating event for teens 3 p.m. Oct. 31. Come celebrate the Day of the Dead with us.

Registration is required.

The Munchkin Music program is scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 5.

The event will include music, movement and fun with Deb Krall.

The library has received a donation to purchase an additional AWE Early Literacy children’s computer. The gift is from David and Paula Behler in memory of Robert Lambert and Joan Dynan.
