The Christmas City becomes wrestling city the week in between the holidays and that continues this year as the Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic will take place December 28 and 29 at Liberty’s Memorial Gymnasium.

This year’s tournament will have 32 teams and should get a boost in attendance and fanfare with Easton participating in the tournament this year.

The Rovers join the ranks of Pennsylvania powers Nazareth, Phillipsburg, Northampton, Central Dauphin, Council Rock South and Pennridge to go along with the host Hurricanes.

Wrestling will begin on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. with pigtails, preliminary round and first and second round of consolations taking place in the first session. Wednesday’s second session gets going at 6:30 p.m. with quarterfinals, and third and fourth place consolations.

Thursday’s schedule kicks off at 10 a.m. with the semifinals, followed by fifth and sixth round consolations.

Consolation finals will take place in the evening with championship finals to follow on two mats.

Truman, Honesdale, LaSalle College, Liberty, Nazareth, North Penn, Northampton, Northern Lebanon, Northern Lehigh, Northwestern, Pen Argyl, Pennridge, Phillipsburg, Pleasant Valley, Pottsville, Quakertown, Saucon Valley, Stoughton (WI), Stroudsburg, Tri-Valley, Whitehall, Warwick, Wilson West Lawn and Wyoming Valley West.
