To the dance:This season’s “Master Choreographers” concert at Muhlenberg College feature restagings of three major works by world-renowned choreographers and four world-premiere works by faculty and guest artists, 8 p.m. Feb. 11, 12 and 2 and 8 p.m. Feb. 13, Empie Theatre, Baker Center for the Arts, Muhlenberg College, 2400 Chew St., Allentown. Muhlenberg’s nationally-recognized Dance Program features more than 70 dancers. The concert feature restagings of “Ligeti Essays,” choreographed by Karole Armitage; “Songs of the Disinherited,” choreographed by Donald McKayle, and “To Have and To Hold,” choreographed by Shapiro & Smith Dance. The concert features world-premiere works by Karen Dearborn; Jeffrey Peterson, above; Heidi Cruz-Austin, and Shelley Oliver. The program includes aerial acrobatics, tap, modern and ballet. Bow-wow-Wow!:“Mutts Gone Nuts: Canine Cabaret” returns to the State Theatre Center for the Arts stage for two performances, 1 and 3:30 p.m. Feb. 14. Scott and Joan Houghton and their hilarious pack of pooches have created a comedy dog thrill show like no other. Expect the unexpected in this top-notch presentation that includes high-flying Frisbee dogs, tight-wire dogs, dancing dogs and the one and only Sammie the Talking Dog. The nine canines are adopted from animal shelters and rescues. In conjunction with the performances, the State Theatre is holding a pet food drive to benefit The Center for Animal Health and Welfare, Easton. Attendees who bring in a donation of dog and-or cat food receive one free child ticket to the performance with a limit of one free ticket per household. The ticket discount is only available to patrons who purchase tickets in person or on the phone.
