During the July 29 meeting of the Northwestern Recreation Commission, Kathy Hermany reported Northern Valley and Cetronia ambulance corps will have emergency vehicles on site for Night in the Country celebration 4-10 p.m. Aug. 15.

Cetronia wants to bring Andy the Ambulance, also. The robot ambulance is a favorite with kids.

And, MedEvac is scheduled to land at 7:30 p.m.

The cow to choose the cow flop bingo winner will be Acorn, from Dietrich's Lynnacres farm.

Events during Night include food, car cruise, firefighter competition, cow flop bingo, Miller-Keystone Blood Center, games and activities, bingo, Chinese auction, antique tractors, live music and the fabulous fireworks display to close out the evening.

In other matters, rec commission park maintenance person Jim Hughes reported everything on the fields is growing like crazy.

Five red oaks have been planted, mulched and staked. They measure between 2-1/2 to 3 inches in diameter and are about 6 inches off the ground.

Hughes has capped the shelf in the concession stand.

He asked if marine plywood would be a good finish but he was told there is a cement board that would not absorb water and would be better.

One volleyball court will have the beams and berm removed from around the court. The sand area will be increased on all sides by three feet.

Dirt removed when working on the trail will be used to fill in low spots on the new field across the bridge.

NYAA representative Rob Serulneck asked if the batting cage at field four could be improved, as it is now mostly mud and grass.

The grass will be killed and 4 to 8 inches of screenings will be added.

Rec Commission President Don Link has mats that can be used to further improve the cage. The screenings will cost approximately $800.

Lynn repesentative Justin Smith said Frisbee golf, a dog park, improvements to the playground and restoration of the lake are scheduled for Ontelaunee Park.
