LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Emergency services offering reflective signs

The North Whitehall Emergency Services Organization is promoting a program to make reflective address signs available to residents at minimal cost.

Comprised of the Laurys Station, Neffs, Schnecksville, and Tri-Clover volunteer fire companies and Northern Valley EMS, the ESO wants to make certain first responders can find a house address when minutes and seconds count.

On a dark, rainy night, during a snowstorm, or in heavy fog, will your home address be visible to the people who come to help you in an emergency?

The green metal signs with white reflective numbers will be sold at cost, reports Don Norder of the Neffs Volunteer Fire Company.

"This is not a money making deal. We just want to make each house easily identifiable and readily visible. In fog, rain, or snow, we want to make sure people can get help," Norder said.

The signs have numerals displayed on both sides and can be hung horizontally or vertically. They are in use nationwide.

For the address signs to be most effective, they should be installed in front of the house or at the driveway.

The signs should be high enough to be seen above the snow in winter.

If you want to place an order or would like more information, contact the NOVA business office at 610-262-1075, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Your fire company will contact you when the sign is available, and you can make arrangements to pick it up.

If you have an emergency and seconds count, this little sign can help responders find you and may save your life.
