Catasauqua Column

The Catasauqua Shade Tree Commission will hold its annual Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 25, 10 a.m., in the large pavilion at Catasauqua Park, St. John Street.

Trees will be dedicated in memory of or in honor of worthy Catasauqua residents or organizations.

The commission is extending an invitation to residents who would like to purchase a tree and plant it on their property to dedicate it at this event.

The public is invited to attend.

The commission also reminds residents that it is unlawful to remove, prune or plant a street tree at curbside without the approval of the commission.

A no-fee permit is required in accordance with the Shade Tree Ordinance. You can call borough hall at 610-264-0571, and a member of the commission will contact you. Anyone in violation will be cited.

Saturday, April 25, also marks canal cleanup day. Anyone signed up or wanting to help is asked to gather at 9 a.m. at Biery Point. The cleanup will last until approximately noon.

Qi Spa, associated with the Lehigh Valley Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Center, 101 Bridge St., is having a tea tasting on Saturday, April 25, at 3:30 p.m.

Featured will be a variety of teas, accompanied by cupcakes from Blondie's.

This is a wellness clinic and offers a selection of Oriental teas and teas designed to improve certain wellness functions like weight loss, skin therapy and insomnia.

There is a small admission fee.

The Catasauqua American Legion, 330 Second St., will be having an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday, April 26 from 8 a.m. to noon.
