Girls track wins two recent meets

The Northampton track team took part in a three-team meet on Monday at Pocono Mountain West. Dieruff was the other participant.

The girls team won both meets, which brings their record to 3-2 this season. The boys beat Dieruff and lost to Pocono Mountain West, which puts their record at 1-4.

The girls took seven firsts in the meet, including two wins each from Aja Blount and Lyndsey Gallagher. Blount was tops in the shot put with a winning throw of 31-2. She also took first in the discus with a throw of 90-0.

Gallagher was first in the 1600 with a time of 5:40 and also won the 800 with a time of 2:34.

Hannah Marth won the javelin event with a throw of 105-1 and Taylor Fullin won the pole vault clearing 7-0. The girls 4x800 relay team also took first with a winning time of 10:58. The team was made up of Joelle Perelli, Brooke Ingram, Beth Albright and Carly Hein.

Four boys took first in the meet.

Alex Ardle won the discus with a throw of 92-9. Andrew Bartholomew cleared 9-3 in the pole vault competition to take first and John Pereira won the 300 hurdles with a time of 46.9. Noah Rindock was the winner in the 800 with a time of 2:14.

The Kids next meet takes place Thursday, April 9 at Easton with Eastburg South as the third team.

In the Kids first meet at Parkland on March 27, both the boys and girls fell to the Trojans.

Taylor Fullin won the 300 hurdles in 52.04, Lauren Sterner took the 400 in 1:04.84, Meghan Hemingway was first in the discus with a throw of 90-0 and Aja Blount won the shot put with a toss of 31-11.

For the boys, Morgan Heffelfinger won both the 100 and the long jump. He took the 100 in 11.64 and the long jump with a distance of 20-8.

Colton Maxwell was first in the 200 in 24.44. Logan Koehler won the shot put with a throw of 41-2 and Noah Rindock won the triple jump with a distance of 38-10.

In the Kids second meet at Freedom with Stroudsburg, but boys dropped both meets while the girls split, knocking off the Pates and falling to the Mounties.

The girls 4x800 relay team of Lyndsey Gallagher, Hannah Flaven, Lauren Sterner and Joelle Perelli took first with a time of 10:26. Hannah Marth also won the javelin with a throw of 119-10.

For the boys, the only winner was Adam Kuronya with a 5-10 in the high jump.
