The Parkland School Board has approved $165,300 for a feasibility study to be conducted by Stantec Architecture and Engineering LLC.
During the March 24 meeting, Superintendent Richard Sniscak explained the consultants will take a comprehensive look at the district with an overview for the next decade.
He said the study will examine demographics in North Whitehall, South Whitehall and Upper Macungie townships and project enrollments for the future.
The project will include a diagnosis of the Troxell buidling with advice on whether to restore, renovate or raze the structure.
Engineers will take a look at all facilities to report on their structure and anticipated capital needs.
The study will also involve a review of district programs with options on how to implement full day kindergarten.
Sniscak said 12 firms responded to Parkland's request for proposals.
Representatives from seven firms were interviewed by a team including administrators from various departments and schools.
After the field was narrowed down to four finalists, Stantec was awarded the honor.
Sniscak said Stantec is the No. 1 ranked architecture and engineering firm in the country for kindergarten through grade 12 education, according to a major architectural publication.
Stantec has offices in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and throughout other states.
Sniscak stated the study will get underway in April and is expected to be completed in five or six months.
At that time, a report will be presented to the public during a board meeting.
