The Cetronia Fire Department celebrated its momentous 90th anniversary with an exciting and historic parade Aug. 23.
At least 15 fire, police and ambulance companies from surrounding areas brought trucks and other items, and there were horses, tractors, Boy Scouts, greyhound rescues, musical groups and antique and classic cars taking part in the parade.
Special guests included firefighters from St. Filippen, Austria, who marched proudly in the parade.
After the parade, participants and parade watchers went to the fire company to hear guest speakers, as well as listen to music, receive 90th anniversary souvenirs, eat delicious food and participate in a Chinese auction.
Matt Szuchyt on behalf of state Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, presented Cetronia Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention Frank Knauss and Chief Jay Heiklen with a proclamation from the Senate recognizing Cetronia's anniversary.
The state House, via state Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, also recognized Cetronia Fire Department's special occasion with a proclamation accepted by Knauss and Heicklen.
The commander of the district fire departments of St. Filippen and St. Veit/Glan, Egon Kaiser was given a thank-you plaque from John Bastian.
Photo displays from the last 90 years of fire service were available for public viewing so everyone could see the decades worth of hard work and dedication Cetronia volunteer firefighters have given their community.
