Whitehall Township has directed its solicitor to research a zoning issue.
The Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners directed the solicitor at Monday's meeting to look into a zoning matter they filed with the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas.
The board voted unanimously to intervene in the case of Pathstone, which has taken the township's zoning hearing board to court after losing its appeal for a variance.
Pathstone, of Harrisburg, sought approval to convert the idled Fullerton Sportswear building into approximately 53 apartment units on three floors.
Located at 215 Quarry St., across from the Fullerton Volunteer Fire Department, one of the major reasons the zoning board rejected the appeal was that Pathstone's plans did not meet township zoning requirements, including one for two parking spaces per unit.
In other business, the township was named in a lawsuit involving an accident between two motor vehicles.
The accident took place at Hillside Avenue and Sixth Street, Cementon. The suit alleges defective road conditions caused the accident.
"Quite obviously, the township will vigorously contest the suit," Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr. said.
