The annual Academic and Service Awards ceremony will be held May 27. Students have been given prior notification regarding receipt of an award or scholarship and are strongly encouraged to attend this special event with their families to honor their academic and community service achievements. Broadway night is scheduled for May 28 at the high school. The students have been practicing to entertain; plan on attending for an exciting evening.

Seniors: tell SHS about your post-high school plans. Simply give a wallet size of your senior picture to Mrs. Pennella and write your name and the college you will be attending or career you will be or pursuing. Your picture will be placed on the map in the display case outside the library. Additionally, if you have placed a deposit to attend the trip to Pocono Mountain Valley May 30, you must be present for the trip; if you are absent or fail to attend, you will have to pay the full cost of attendance.

On May 13, Salisbury High School held its annual spring concert, which included performances from the jazz and concert bands, Descant Get Enough and the combined club and block choruses. The night concluded with a collaborative performance of "Hakuna Matata" between the band and chorus.

The SHS and Salisbury Middle School Art Show took place May 18 at SHS. Works of art done by students in various art classes were on display. The afternoon also included refreshments and performances from the band and chorus. Thank you to Mr. Aaron Yetter, Mr. Jay Linsebigler, performers and the football players who invested their time in setting up this wonderful event.

The first annual Wayne Leibensperger Jr. blood drive will be held 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 4 at the high school. Leibensperger was a 2011 graduate who lost his life in March in an accident. He was an avid blood donor who donated faithfully every eight weeks. After every donation, he would tell his mom, "Hey Mom, I saved a life today." Residents can donate at any Miller-Keystone site in Leibensperger's memory by using the code 7447.
