Cetronia Fire Co. plans celebration

Leo Decker, representing the Cetronia Fire Company Social Club, was present at a recent South Whitehall commissioners' meeting to explain activities planned for the 90th birthday of the organization.

"We would like to have an outdoor function on May 25, with music and food from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.," Decker said.

On Aug. 23, the fire company will have its birthday celebration as a community festival for the neighborhood, including a parade.

The social club proposes a time for people to gather in the parking lot after the parade for food, beverages and fun.

Decker asked commissioners to waive zoning fees associated with obtaining approval for the two events.

Township Manager Jon Hammer suggested Decker sit down with township staff to enumerate all activities planned and report to commissioners afterward.

In other business, Director of Administration Howard Kutzler presented a sketch of proposed improvements for the lobby of the municipal building.

"We would like to have one point of service contact for permits, bills and information," Kutzler said. "We would like to put it out for bids. If it comes out workable, we'll proceed soon."

Commissioners granted authorization to move forward with bids.

"We want to make it more resident and business friendly," Board President Christina "Tori" Morgan said. "We'll make a nice even flow for people and an opportunity to get their questions answered."
