New business comes to township

Whitehall Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr. has confirmed that TESLA, which manufactures electric cars and electric car parts, is opening a site on the Lehigh Valley Mall property. The mayor reported the car company will not be the only new addition to the mall campus.

Two businesses, new to the region, will be added to the Lehigh Valley Mall Lifestyle Center. Hozza declined to identify the proposed occupants at this time, but said one will be a well known high-end restaurant and the other a viable business. The site will be at the former Coldwater Creek store, which has closed.

"It is the first location in the Lehigh Valley for both," Hozza said of the new busniesses coming to the township.

The township should have plans submitted by concerned parties for reportedly a restaurant and offices at a vacant lot at MacArthur and Mechanicsville roads. The plans would have to go through the various township departments for review and approval.

The former Lehigh Valley Dairy property hasn't been forgotten by the township. Township officials continue to have real estate firms and others show interest and market the privately owned property, which does have tenants on some of the vast holdings.

The township has a mix of restaurants in its commercial district, off and on MacArthur Road. The restaurants are varied, all you-can-eat establishments, steak and seasfood restaurants, Italian fare, and a number of fast food restaurants, from McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, White Castle, KFC, Taco Bell to Popeye's and long-time diners.
