VFW post meeting set for Feb. 23

Northampton VFW Post 4714 will hold its next regular monthly meeting Sunday, Feb. 23, 1 p.m., at the Post home, 1204 Main St.

All active members are encouraged to attend.

The Northampton Area Public Library is getting a makeover this spring!

The front desk and the carpet throughout the library will be replaced, and the floor plan will be revamped.

There are other improvements on the list, but funding is limited. If you'd like to help by making a donation or raising funds, contact Melissa Hawk at 610-262-7537 or mhawk@northamptonapl.org.

The next meeting of the Civil War discussion group is Wednesday, Feb. 19, 6:30 p.m., at the library, 1615 Laubach Ave.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

If you dream of making a living as a writer or photographer, learn how to turn that dream into a reality with a two-hour hands-on workshop Saturday, March 8, 1 p.m., at the Northampton Area Public Library. The workshop will be presented by Johanna Billings, editor of the Northampton Press, Whitehall-Coplay Press and Catasauqua Press.

Note: This workshop was originally scheduled for Feb. 15.

This program is free and open to the public. Registration is preferred but not required; call 610-262-7537 or stop by the library to sign up.

Holy Trinity Nursery School, 1235 Main St., is now registering for the 2014-15 school year.

The 2-year-old playgroup class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 9:30-11 a.m. Class size is limited to 12 children. Children do not need to be toilet trained for this class.

The 3-year-old class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9-11:30 a.m. Class size is limited to 16 children. Children need to be toilet trained for this class.

The 4-year-old class meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12:15-2:45 p.m. Class size is limited to 16 children. Children need to be toilet trained for this class.

Children must turn the appropriate age for the class by Sept. 1.

There is a registration cost and a monthly tuition fee.
