Weisenberg Township firefighters responded to the following emergency calls:

Jan. 14: Gas leak at Lehigh Learning Center, 2936 Corporate Court, Lowhill Township. A propane leak forced the evacuation of approximately 50 students and staff around 9 a.m.

According to Fire Chief Scott Freeman, staff began smelling gas and initiated an evacuation. Weisenberg and Fogels-ville volunteer firefighters, along with Cetronia Ambulance Corps personnel and Pa. State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, responded to the incident.

The building was deemed safe for re-entry after a leak was found at one of the underground propane tanks outside the school.

Workers from the propane company responded to fix the problem

Jan. 19: Fire forced evacuation of approximately 20 guests at the Glasbern Inn around 9:15 p.m. when a commercial laundry dryer caught fire in the basement of the Pack House guest building.

According to Freeman, the quick actions of Glasbern employees are credited with extinguishing the fire before it spread to the entire building.

Employees used numerous fire extinguishers and water to prevent the spread of the fire until firefighters arrived.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and is under investigation by the fire marshal.

Firefighters were on scene for approximately two hours ventilating guest rooms. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters from Weisenberg, Fogelsville and New Tripoli fire departments responded.

Cetronia Ambulance Corps personnel also responded as a precaution.
