A former researcher has found a new position and home as a pediatrician at Northwestern Medical Center, 7096 Decatur St., New Tripoli.

Dr. Haoli Jin, originally from China, has more than 20 years of experience in the medical field.

Jin received her medical degree from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Science, China, in 1996, and doctorate in microbiology and im-munology from the University of Miami, Florida, in 2004.

She completed a three-year general pediatrics residency at New York Methodist Hospital and has been board certified with the American Academy of Pediatrics since October 2011.

In addition to pediatrics, Jin has specialty training in clinical allergy and immunology from Children's Hospital Boston, New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Hospital and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and general ophthalmology and uveitis training from Sun Yat-sen Ophthalmic Center, China.

Jin worked at Tricounty Pediatrics in Elkins Park prior to working for Lehigh Valley Physicians Group at the Lehigh Valley Health Network, Allentown.

"I feel at home here," she said. "I was in a staffing pool with Lehigh Valley Health Network and they wanted someone to volunteer to come here."

She said she often voluteered to come to Northwestern Medical Center.

"I liked it so well I joined the practice," Jin stated. "The staff, patients, owner and manager are very friendly to me and do not mind my Chinese accent."

In addition to speaking English, she speaks Mandarin and Cantonese.

Jin became interested in medicine as a child.

"I have always liked thinking how I could help people feel better from a medical perspective," Jim said. "I also like looking into diseases."

Jin treats patients from birth to age 22.

"I have to pull in a chair so I can sit down and make eye contact with my patients," Jin said. "When I see patients, I let them finish informing me of their complaints, then I ask them if they have other complaints before I leave the room."

When she is not working, Jin spends time with daughters Margaret, 11-1/2, and Melissa, 14 months.

She enjoys taking her oldest daughter to the park, reading books, cooking, playing the piano and traveling.

South Whitehall residents now, Jin and her husband, Xiaohui Zhang, an assistant professor in the engineering department at Lehigh University, traveled across the United States before they had children.

Jin is the daughter of Peijang Zhang and Yuewei Jin, who reside in China.

Her sister Sarah Jin lives in Toronto, Canada.
