Outlaws perform at Kempton center to loud cheers

"We are excited to have a national act here in Kempton," said Rob Hunt, before Citizens Band Radio and the Outlaws began to play.

Bob Hunt explained he and his father want to help keep the Kempton Community Recreation Center running.

They have been working with Flagship Music Productions for two years and now the two came to a new venue where they felt they could accomplish something valuable for the community.

Production manager Larry Lavin said there were outdoor musical performances started in May 2013. They will begin again in spring 2014.

There will be national, regional and local acts with a bring-your-own-chair seating.

The indoor general admission space can seat 500 comfortably, he said.

The next indoor program will be coming up New Year's Eve with the Good Lovin' Jam Band and dancing.

"We want to let people know we are here," Lavin said. "We are talking to the schools about the possibility of a Battle of the Bands and we have talked to School Rock, a music school in Hamburg."

Many people seemed familiar with the Citizens Band Radio and everyone enjoyed their performance.

They took the stage under professional lighting.

Over their heads were still lights that changed color. Providing constant changes to the hall were moving lights that slowly played on the ceiling and walls.

Community members helped in the kitchen, Rob Hunt said.

"We had a lot of good people our first year and will be doing it for a long time," he said, as he introduced the Citizens Band Radio group: Michael Flynn on slide guitar, guitar and vocals; Linda King on mandolin and vocals; Dale Eddington on drums, Jayson Januzzi the leader, and on bass and vocals; and Troy Bleck on guitar.

"We're happy to be part of this. We're all getting ready for the Outlaws," Januzzi said.

"Outlaws" shirts and jackets were plentiful at the commun ity center.

Rob Hunt said he heard Outlaws perform in the '70s and '80s.

He asked members of the audience to spread the word on the new venue for peerformances.

Only a mention of The Outlaws led to cheers and clapping. The audience was clearly happy to hear a familiar Southern rock band from the past.

They began their program with "Tomorrow's Another Night."

This was enough to get some girls dancing in the aisle.

"It's kind of a private show here (referring to the small audience) but we'll play the same for you as we would at the Garden."

Upcoming is a Kempton Pepper Jam scheduled for May 24 and 25, 2014, which will feature

There will be two mouth-watering days of pepper foods, music, crafts and local beer and wine.
