Najarian questions supervisors on having executive sessions
The Dec. 12 Lynn Township supervisors meeting opened with a bang.
Former supervisor Dave Najarian attacked the board about the executive sessions recently held.
One session was held prior to the evening's meeting. He said the board knew ahead of time and should have announced the departure of the township secretary and there should be more openness in the resignation process.
Najarian also challenged Chairman Justin Smith on the Active Adult Residential Community issue stating he is involved with the project as he is part of the family.
Smith stated the issue does not relate to him.
Najarian countered saying Smith once said AARC was a dead issue. Smith denied any knowledge of this.
Najarian said AARC is being advertised in the real estate listings as being for sale along with the commercial property.
When asked by Najarian if he (Smith) would bring up the AARC question next year, he replied "Yes."
New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ then gave the fire company's report. They responded to 13 fire calls between Nov. 16 and Dec. 5.
Santa will be on the fire truck touring the fire district 1-3 p.m. Dec. 21.
Several Hazmat classes are scheduled for January.
Christ advised resident to check for frayed cords when installing their Christmas lighting and check for chimney obstructions and clean the chimney before starting a fire in the fireplace.
He also advised homeowners to install a carbon monoxide detector.
The Heintzelman subdivision was on the agenda for road dedication. The board accepted the request and advised Heintzelman to submit the finalized paperwork and a deed of dedication.
Giuseppe restaurant's zoning problem was next on the agenda.
His proposal for an apartment at the building on Route 309 is not allowed by the zoning ordinance due to certain wording.
The solicitor was authorized to develop an ordinance amendment to correct the problem.
Kathy Hermany was appointed the new township secretary.
In addition to this office, she will also be assistant treasurer and secretary for the zoning and administration office.
She will start the first business day in January 2014.
