Kathy Kehs introduced some of her high school art students to the Northwestern Lehigh School Board during its Nov. 20 meeting. The students' art work was chosen to be displayed in the board's meeting room.
Kavan Fitzpatrick chose a wheat field at sunset for his pastel picture.
Others who were in the Introduction to 2-dimensional work class included Trista Cunningham, who created a mixed media flower, Rosey Pergosky, who crafted a silhouette of a pier, and TJ Fedirko, who created a Luna moth.
Kehs said Fedirko, who was unable to attend the meeting, had a special interest in moths and butterflies.
Contemporary clay sculptures were made by Sarah Overstrom. Her project was a cup on a pedestal. Elizabeth Iobst made a tray with mugs and a pitcher. Hannah Masenheimer made a tray and Christine McDonald made a slab box.
Kehs said the glazing on the box was an experiment, and with light shining on it, the piece looks amazing.
Katelyn Nicholas' elephant urn was the only representation of classical ceramic work.
The Introduction to 3-D class was represented by Kelly Kovalchick, whose horse was modeled on one at her home using real horse hair. Emily Remaly chose a famous character, the Grumpy Cat, for her artwork.
Two-dimensional studio work was offered by Kelly Lyter, who did a colored pencil drawing of a Corgi, and Alyssa Rodda who chose an acrylic tree painting.
Superintendent Mary Anne Wright said some of the artwork looks like it would be expensive to buy.
