Friday evening dances held at the Coplay Saengerbund's Fifth Street pavilion have officially ended for the season.

The Saengerbund, however, will host a Thanksgiving Eve dance.

Polka dances continue on Sundays for the older crowd.

Press editor Johanna S. Billings will make a presentation on taking better pictures at the Coplay Public Library 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.

The presentation will focus on using camera settings such as "portrait," "landscape" and "macro." Photo composition and editing photos after they are taken also will be covered. The program is free and open to the public.

Billings is a nationally award-winning photographer whose work has appeared in coffee table books and national magazines including "Cat Fancy" and "Victorian Decorating & Lifestyle."

The Coplay library also is selling tickets to the Boscov's Friends Helping Friends event to take place Oct. 22.

For $5, the buyer receives a coupon for 25 percent off a purchase, a chance to win a prize and refreshments at the store.

The $5 purchase price goes directly to the library.

The public is also invited to have dinner at Samuel Owens Restaurant 4-9 p.m. Nov. 12 and 19.

The restaurant will donate 10 percent of the check to the library for anyone who eats at a dining room table. Bar sales are not included.
