A Catasauqua Area Showcase Theatre membership meeting will take place 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, in the Sheckler Elementary School cafeteria. Current members and anyone interested in joining this community theatre group are encouraged to attend. Children and adults of all ages are needed, especially those in the 15 to 30 age range.

Congratulations to Northeast Allentown Kiwanis Club member Rodney "Rocky" Andrecs, who was awarded the Kiwanis Division 18 Hero Award at the Kiwanis State Convention in Gettysburg. Rocky was recognized for 19 years of dedicated membership and service as a distinguished club president. He has served as treasurer for the club, which meets in Hanover Township, and of the district and region. The local club meets Wednesdays at noon at Denny's Restaurant, Catasauqua Road.

Mark your calendar for a tricky tray event at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1900 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Saturday, Sept. 28. Doors open at 11 a.m. and drawings begin at 5 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the door or in advance at a discount Sept. 7-20. Contact the church office at 610-865-3603 or saec@ptd.net. Leave your name and number and someone will return your call. Baked goods, food and beverages will also be for sale. The church is located between Allentown and Bethlehem, two blocks south of Catasauqua Road. Turn from Pennsylvania Avenue onto Taft St. to enter the parking lot.
