Incumbents seek re-election to board

Republican incumbents Thomas Johns and Christina Tori Morgan are seeking re-election to the two open seats on the South Whitehall Board of Commissioners. There are no Democratic candidates.

Johns, who is serving his first term on the board, founded his own business, Phoenix Construction Inc., 22 years ago.

A graduate of Penn State with a degree in business and finance, Johns has experience working in logistics, auditing and sales.

Johns says it is important for residents to become involved in township affairs, which is what he did by attending commissioners' meetings for several years prior to running for election in 2009.

He says all residents should have a voice in decisions made by their government with all sides of an issue heard fairly.

Johns promises to work to maintain the quality of life in South Whitehall. He says his experience in business, planning and land use enables him to make a valuable contribution to the people of South Whitehall.

Morgan, selected five years ago to fill the unexpired term of a commissioner who resigned, went on to win a four-year seat on the board in the 2009 election.

She served four years on the township planning commission and was a member of the comprehensive plan steering committee.

Morgan is president of the board of commissioners. She also serves on the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission.

A graduate of Muhlenberg College, Morgan has had a career in environmental services.

She says she is dedicated to keeping the township beautiful, safe and prosperous with a well-managed budget and responsible growth.

Morgan says she wants to continue working with residents, business owners and South Whitehall staff to make good decisions that lead to a harmonious, prosperous future.

Tax Collector Al Thompson is also running for re-election.
