Paramedic, EMT reunited with newborn they delivered

What began as a typical day for Northern Valley EMS Paramedic Jonathan Pfleegor and EMT Bill Edinger ended with the exciting birth of Camille Rose Gelinas Williams.

A month after delivering the baby girl inside their ambulance 4:20 p.m. March 10, the team was formally introduced to Camille Rose April 10 at their Ormrod headquarters.

Pfleegor, who at the time of the delivery was a paramedic for 15 months, and Edinger, who has been an EMT for 20 years, both said this was their first delivery.

"Two weeks prior, we had flu patients, nothing exciting. Then, we had this little miracle," Pfleegor said. "This was the highlight of my career."

Both he and Edinger were smiling after the call.

The two men said they were happy to see both the mom and baby are happy and healthy.

"It definitely changes your perspective after always having sick patients all the time," Edinger said.

NOVA Executive Director Joe Solderich said within the past 10 years crews have helped deliver three babies.

Karianne Gelinas of Orefield said her and Armon Williams' daughter was due March 12 but decided to arrive early.

"I am happy the gentlemen came quickly and were professional," Gelinas said. "It was just a very unexpected turn of events.

"I am very grateful they are so successful at their jobs.

"I thank you for doing a great job and providing the service."

Sister Daya Williams, 3, who was born March 10, 2010, three years to the day as her little sister, spoke to The Press.

"It is great to be a big sister," Daya said.
