Resident praises Weisenberg Twp. Administrator Brian Carl

With board member Tom Wehr absent, Supervisors Bob Milot and Linda Gorgas took care of business at the Weisenberg supervisors March meeting.

Milot read a letter received from township resident Jim Price commending the actions of Township Administrator Brian Carl.

Price's wife, Jane, had a medical emergency during the Feb. 9 snowstorm.

Shortly after he dialed 911, a township truck arrived and plowed so emergency workers could get through.

Carl then shoveled the snow from the sidewalk so EMS personnel could get in the Price's house.

He also assisted the EMS crew with placing Jane Price in the ambulance.

Carl's actions were repeatedly praised in Jim Price's letter.

In other matters, the preliminary subdivision plan of F&M Land Co. No. 9 was reviewed and given conditional approval by the board. This project is located along Carpet Road and consists of a 13-acre lot, a 12.8-acre lot and a 15-acre lot.

Richard Woolley and surveyor William Beitler presented the plan, which has a portion of the subdivision in Lowhill Township with one building lot proposed.

A fee schedule for seepage pits, was approved by the board. The ordinance amendment concerning commercial towers was tabled until the April meeting.

In the public comment portion of the meeting, Lisa Beitler addressed the board concerning her husband's remarks from the February meeting.

Her husband discussed what he termed unprofessional conduct of the building inspector involved with inspections on their property.

She reiterated what her husband said to the board, adding requirements for in-ground and above-ground pools should be explained to applicants when applying for a permit.

Roadmaster Tony Werley said the board should advertise for road materials for the upcoming year.

He also informed the board the woodpile, which was put up for bid, had only one offer.

Glasbern Inn was awarded the pile with a bid of $151.

Werley told the board of his research concerning a generator for the maintenance building.

He located a supplier in Iowa with 100 new generators available. They are 80 Kw, self-contained units costing $16,400.

The generator would be used to operate the building in case of power failure.

The board urged Werley to order the generator.

Milot wants Beitler to survey the property the township purchased near Weisenberg Elementary School.

He said it was important to know exactly where the corners and property lines are before attempting to develop the property as a recreation area.

Administrator Carl wants Buddy Wessner give him a ballpark figure on the cost to develop the recreation area.

Carl said the draft of the spring newsletter should be available for the April meeting.

He is also trying to obtain prices on service contracts for maintenance of the heating and air-conditioning at the township building.

He had a contractor in mind but Fire Chief Scott Freeman urged him to look further because he allegedly was not satisfied with that contractor's work at the fire station.
