Fountain Hill Council approved hiring two new part time police officers at it's meeting on March 4.

Kevin Smith, who according to Chief of Police Ed Bachert, came to the borough from the Slatington Police Department and Daniel Troxell, who is with the Nazareth Police Department, will both fill in on shifts when full time officers are off. The two men were sworn in by Mayor Jose Rosado and Bachert.

Concil President Larry Council President Larry Rapp reported that the borough received a $15,000 grant to be used toward the purchase of a pump that will be installed in front of borough hall to help eliminate the flooding problem they have.

In other business council approved extending working hours and days for the Delaware Avenue road reconstruction project. After some discussion, they decided to allow work to be done on Sundays, but limited crews from starting before 10 a.m.

Council also approved participating in a solar standards development project. The borough currently does not have any zoning for solar panels on buildings.

The annual Arbor Day celebration will be at 2 p.m. on April 26 at Stanley Avenue Park and the trees planted will honor the Fountain Hill Exchange Club. This year's Easter egg hunt will start at 10 a.m. March 30 at Stanley Avenue Park.
