Upper Milford reviews proposed 2027 budget
Upper Milford Township supervisors opened public review of the proposed 2027 budget Oct. 15, outlining a $3.57 million spending plan that includes increased funding for the Emmaus Public Library and the UMYA youth sports program.
According to the draft budget, total revenue and transferred funds for the township’s 2026 final millage rate of 0.211 mills are projected at $3,855,518.74. As of Sept. 25, total revenue stood at $3,481,823.26. The proposed 2027 budget totals $3,569,520.42.
Township officials said many budget line items remain unchanged from 2026. However, proposed increases include allocations for the Emmaus Public Library and the UMYA youth sports program.
Budget discussions will continue at a workshop meeting scheduled 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St.
During the regular board meeting that followed the workshop, supervisors approved Resolution 2026-032 authorizing a Local Services Grant application.
The board also approved the sale of a 1999 GMC vehicle and a 1999 Ford F-350 truck.
In planning matters, supervisors approved a lot-line adjustment involving properties at 4190 Shimerville Road and 4135 Mill Road.
Supervisor Dan Mohr reported the annual Vera Cruz Halloween Parade, held Oct. 14, drew a large crowd.
“There was lots of dancing in the streets between the parade breaks and the DJ entertained crowds at the tavern,” Mohr said.
Mohr said members of the Emmaus High School Marching Band participated in costume rather than wearing their uniforms. He also noted local firefighters responded to an emergency call during the event, requiring apparatus to leave the parade route.
The Vera Cruz Association organizes the annual community parade.
The next budget workshop is scheduled 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 and the next regular board of supervisors meeting will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the township building.
