Coplay column
The Coplay Lions Club on Saturday will host a Harvest Moon Oldies Hop at the Coplay Saengerbund, Fifth Street and Schreiber Avenue.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with food available beginning at 5:30 p.m. Beverages will be on tap and Nick of Time will perform on the bandstand from 7 to 11 p.m.

St. John's Lutheran Church on South Third Street will hold a chicken dinner this Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m. The meal includes chicken, filling, veggies and all the fixings.
The dinner gives the church the opportunity to show off its brand new kitchen and all the appliances. The church's social hall on the ground floor will be the setting for the dinner.

The Coplay Community Days Committee will meet Monday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m. in council chambers. The meeting will include an election of officers and representatives from the participating organizations. All are asked to attend.
Steve Burker headed the event the last two years as chairman.

The Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association held a meeting recently at the Atlas Cement Memorial Museum, Northampton.
A tour was included which featured artifacts from Coplay Cement and Lafarge (Whitehall Cementon).
Attending along with the association's membership were Mayors Joseph Bundra of Coplay, Edward D. Hozza Jr. of Whitehall and Thomas D. Reenock of Northampton.

The Blessings of the Animals scheduled last Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church was postponed because of inclement weather.
The event is rescheduled for this Sunday, 2 p.m., in the church's South Third Street parking lot. Rev. Timothy Boyer, the church's pastor, will preside over the event.

The Coplay Public Library will be welcoming FeRROUS from the IronPigs for the Coplay Halloween Parade on Tuesday, October 16.
Anyone who would like to ride the float with FeRROUS or walk along with the library to hand out candy is asked to call the library at 610-262-7351.
The group will be meeting at Saint Peter's School parking lot at 6 p.m. that evening.
Dress up in your Halloween best or wear the library's party hats to celebrate our 50th anniversary this year!
