Ferne A. (Egbert) Strauss, 86, of Slatington, died Oct. 21, 2026, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown.

She was the wife of Franklin P. Strauss to whom she was married 68 years.

Born in Allentown, Dec. 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Evelyn M. (Kleppinger) Egbert.

She was employed at the former GMA in Allentown as a manager of documentation, engineering assistant, and manager for eight years before retiring in 2006.

Prior to that, she was employed at Gardner Cryogenics, a division of Air Products & Chemical, Inc., in Allentown.

Active in the life of her church, she was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, where she served as consistory president and a member of the worship committee and ministry committee.

In addition to her husband, Franklin, she is survived by daughter, Elizabeth A. Cramer (Gary) of Emmaus; son, Arthur T. Strauss (Shirley) of Emmaus; grandchildren, Sean, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Brennan, Paisley, Ophelia, Connor, Taylor; sister, Joan A. Hassler of Hellertown.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Derrick.

Funeral services were held Oct. 27, at Union U.C.C., 5550 Route 873, Neffs, with the Rev. Kayli L. Freeman officiating.

Interment followed the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
