Kids race at leagues

Northampton’s girls and boys cross country teams competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Cross Country Championships on Oct. 20 at DeSales University.

The first Konkrete Kid to place for the girls was Addie Sobieski who came in 43rd with a time of 23:03.1.

“I was just trying to run fast,” said the Northampton freshman who splits her time between cross country and soccer. “I never ran on this course. I thought it was very hilly, and it was a lot on the trails. I just felt like it was never ending. I was just trying to keep track of people in front of me, trying to stay with them as much as I could.”

Sarah Harding, Alexa Wright, Yojeilyn Acosta Pimentel, Khloe Warner, and Natalie Gerdak also competed for the Northampton girls.

The first Konkrete Kid to place for the boys was Michael Snyder who came in 30th with a time of 18:09.5.

“I personally like [the course], just the cornfield is like, oh my God,” Snyder said. “You’re at the end, and you’re just thinking about everything, and I finally finished, and I’m like, I did it. A strategy was to beat one of my longtime best friends that goes to Whitehall. I passed him on the hill over there, which, oh my God, that was so hard. Then, I got passed by someone but passed that person as soon as I got into the cornfield.”

Michael Muessig, Nathan Bumback, Gavin Beam, and Isaiah Deveny also competed for the Northampton boys.

Emmaus’s David Hearn won the boys race in 15:49.9, and Liberty’s Elizabeth McClarin won the girls race in 18:43.1
