LHS class of 1964 80th birthday party
During their senior year (1963-1964) the Liberty HS class of 1964 experienced some notable history with the assassination of President John of Kennedy in November 1963, the advance of Beatlemania with the Beatles first USA visit in February 1964, and increasing civil rights violence.
On Sep. 9, sixty-five members of that class and their guests gathered at a private residence in Bethlehem to celebrate their 80th birthdays, and spend their time reminiscing and updating each other about their lives then and since.
Organized by a committee that includes Donna and Steve Henning, Ken Irvine, Linda Kichline, Nancy Miltenberger and Mary Squarcia, attendees traveled from places far like Maine, Vermont and the Carolinas and near like Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley.
Their secrets for longevity included “look for awe and wonder every day,” by Alyson Stocker Breisch; “live the previous seventy-nine years well,” by Carol Henn; “it’s just luck,” by Pat Lowman; and Steve Henning’s, “listen to your wife and when you’re wrong admit it, and when you’re right keep your mouth shut.”
They worked in careers like teaching, automotive sales, ATT project manager, writing, and civil engineering to name a few and now are enjoying their retirements, but for four hours that afternoon the clock turned back as lifetimes melted away to their teenaged days.
Food and refreshments were provided by Pats Pizza and Bistro of Bethlehem.
