Upper Macungie welcomes new officers, promotes detective

Upper Macungie Township welcomed two new police officers and recognized the promotion of an officer to detective during the Oct. 1 board of supervisors meeting.

Officers Roberto Rosado and Andrew Weider joined the Upper Macungie Township Police Department following recent retirements. Both took their oaths of office before Magisterial District Judge Michael Faulkner Aug. 27.

Rosado, a graduate of Wilson High School, completed his Act 120 certification through Temple University. Before joining Upper Macungie, he served as a police officer with the Lancaster Township and Bethlehem police departments.

Rosado also serves as a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army with the 213th Support Battalion at Fort Indiantown Gap. His nephews, Cameron and Preston, participated in the badge-pinning ceremony.

Weider graduated from Saucon Valley High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security from DeSales University and completed his Act 120 certification through the Allentown Police Academy. He previously served with the Lower Saucon Township Police Department and is also a certified emergency medical technician.

Weider is a first lieutenant in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 104th Aviation Regiment at Fort Indiantown Gap. He serves as an aeromedical evacuation officer and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter pilot. His girlfriend, Carly, pinned his badge during the ceremony.

The township also recognized Joshua Forrester, who was promoted to detective in the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

Forrester began his law enforcement career in 2009 with the New Hope Borough Police Department after completing his Act 120 certification at the Montgomery County Police Academy. He served with New Hope and the Bucks County Drug Task Force before joining Upper Macungie in 2012.

During his tenure with the township, Forrester earned specialized certifications in commercial vehicle enforcement and collision reconstruction. He is accredited through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction and serves as team leader of the Lehigh County Collision Reconstruction Task Force.

Police Chief Michael Sitoski said Forrester is the only municipal police officer in Lehigh County to hold the accreditation and noted his work investigating several felony homicide-by-vehicle cases throughout the county.

Forrester received a certificate recognizing his promotion.
