The man behind the wings LV artist becomes Eagles’ go-to mural painter
Last year, the Philadelphia Eagles tapped Lehigh Valley artist Justin Klement to paint a mural on a wall at Lincoln Financial Field that serves as a backdrop for fans who want a photo memory of their visit to the stadium.
Apparently, the Eagles organization liked what it saw.
This year, it tapped Klement for a new version of the mural, this one featuring the seven team captains announced for the 2026 NFL season.
Klement, a Whitehall Township native and Whitehall Area HS graduate now living in Bethlehem, has painted numerous murals on the so-called Wing Wall, where fans position themselves between the wings.
“I’m kind of like their go-to artist whenever they need something,” Klement said.
When the mural is tied to a theme, such as military awareness, a special month or the NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative, the Eagles often seek artists who fit that theme, Klement said.
“But if they’re strapped for time or don’t have an artist lined up, I’m their go-to guy,” he said. “We can knock out a design early in the week and have it executed by game day.”
That call came Sept. 5, when the Eagles asked whether he could complete a new mural before the season opener.
After considering several concepts, the team decided to feature the seven captains announced the day before: quarterback Jalen Hurts, fellow Whitehall graduate Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Zack Baun and Jordan Davis.
The design was finalized Tuesday. Klement reused the wings from last season’s playoff mural, refreshed the background and projected the players’ images onto the wall to outline them in chalk.
He spent two full days painting Wednesday and Thursday, then returned Friday for final touch-ups.
“I would’ve liked to add more detail, but I didn’t have the time,” he said. “You have to think bigger picture. Most people won’t notice the small details.”
Klement attended the Eagles’ Sept. 13 home opener, a 24-22 win over Washington, and enjoyed hearing fans’ reactions.
“Everybody loved it,” he said. “A lot of them were showing pictures from previous murals.”
The Wing Wall has become a destination for fans because the artwork changes throughout the season, he said.
“It’s cool because it kind of time-stamps that day and that game.”
Klement said this may be his favorite Wing Wall mural because it allowed him to focus on painting the players themselves.
“It gave me an opportunity to showcase my realism,” he said. “These guys are the leaders of the team. They earned that spot-on the wall.”
Klement’s relationship with the Eagles dates to 2011, when he brought portraits of quarterback Michael Vick to training camp at Lehigh University hoping to get them signed. The artwork caught the attention of an Eagles events coordinator who invited him to paint live at Lincoln Financial Field.
Last year, he painted a holiday-themed Wing Wall mural that remained through the team’s playoff run.
He’s unsure how long the current mural will remain but expects it to stay up through at least several more home games.
Klement also is known for portraits of music artists at Wind Creek Event Center and projects at PPL Center, Pennsylvania Youth Theatre and several regional gyms, including Powerhouse Gym in Bethlehem.
He said he’s available for commissioned artwork and murals.
“I’m passionate about what I do,” he said. “Just so you know, God’s good, giving me opportunity and favor. It’s an honor to be able to share my gift with the world and have people enjoy what I do.”
