LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

LHS field hockey riding win streak

The Liberty field hockey team is hitting its stride at the right time.

The Hurricanes went 3-0 last week, improving to 7-6 on the season, with victories over Pocono Mountain East, Pleasant Valley and Palmerton.

Liberty opened the week with a 4-1 win over Pocono Mountain East before returning home to defeat Pleasant Valley, 3-1. The Hurricanes closed the week with their closest victory, edging Palmerton, 1-0 last Friday.

The three-game winning pushes the ‘Canes above .500 and right back into the mix towards district qualification. It also keeps them in the race for one of the last spots in the EPC tournament.

The Hurricanes have two games this week to keep their streak going when they visit Whitehall before hitting the road again on Wednesday against Nazareth.

Freedom (3-9) will essentially need to win out in order to keep their postseason hopes alive. The Pates face Parkland and East Stroudsburg South this week.

Bethlehem Catholic (0-10) is still searching for their first win of the season and have a chance at that this week with a contest against Pocono Mountain West and then a Thursday date with Whitehall.

Liberty’s Fiona Trapp and the rest of the Liberty field hockey team, shown here against Palmerton, are on a winning streak.
